This autumn sees British verve vendors Duchamp add another facet to their sartorial tour de force. Their new endeavour is into smartness and structure, within the burgeoning realm of the blazer and sports jacket. As an alternative to suiting, this manner of smart dress is going to become steadily more pertinent over the coming seasons. Duchamp are acting in anticipation of this sea-change. The range of jackets is exhibits a pert cut with slanting flap pockets. Other details include a ticket pocket and button tab under the collar, almost like a fine hacking jacket. A deft style nuance is exhibited in The Neapolitan touch of over lapping cuff buttons.
These structured pieces are a departure for the house, and although conceived within the brands distinct colour rubric, a subtle tonality is in play. The trademark vibrance comes through vivid linings, embroidered emblems and contrast collar backings. Duchamp have sourced fabrics from various manufacturers.
The fabric deployments include a lively highlighted Scottish tweed, used in three button jackets, while an English milled fabric works a multi-stripe look in a slimmer two button format. Operating in an almost tactile evening story, the premium velvet range has been sourced from Italy. Thick pile functions in luxurious tandem with the set in shoulders and notch lapels. Mink greys, rich midnight blues and regal purples are used as a foil to bright flashes colour in the detailing, and work delightful with the brands signature colourful flair.
This is a great jacket!! I bought it when I was in London in September and brought it back home to Canada – where I have received nothing but compliments! While I wish there were a real Duchamp store here, maybe it’s better that it is far away so others can not get the “good stuff” so easily! Keep up the great, and colourful work!
